United Way Success Story: Elysia
Elysia called the Nursing Home Ombudsman Agency of the Bluegrass (NHOA) to thank them for their help. As she was trying to find a long term care facility for her mother, she was lost in a maze of conflicting and out-of-date information.
After calling United Way 2-1-1, she was referred to the local long term care ombudsman. NHOA talked her through the procedure of checking out facilities on the internet, what to look for when touring facilities and how to pay for everything – exactly what she needed to ease her mind.
The process of putting a family member in a nursing home is a difficult and stressful process, but with the help of the people at NHOA it makes worries disappear.
